Top 5 apps for female travellers

Technology plays a huge part in (at least my) daily life, especially when I travel. I use my phone for everything from booking flights and hotels, to checking the weather, researching places to eat, or converting currency. Different apps can be useful in so many different ways, so here are some great once for all women out there travelling the world!

Tourlina

Tourlina is for women only, and is an app that connects fellow travellers around the world. You simply enter your trip and find travel companions with mutual interest and travel plans. You can start to chat, and maybe even find someone to travel with!

It’s basically a dating app for friendships. With the emphasis on friendship. It’s not always easy finding someone who’s got the time and opportunity to travel like you, or maybe your friends don’t even like to travel? Tourlina connects you right away with like-minded travellers, and they screen every new member so that safety comes first!

Sit or Squat

The hallelujah moment when I found this app! I’m one of those people who needs to pee pretty much once an hour… So having an app that locates the nearest bathrooms is just the best thing ever. It’s a free app that locates 95,000 bathrooms worldwide! Lifesaver right? Users rate their experiences with a Sit (thumbs up) or a Squat (so-so) and you can even upload a photo so others can see the bathroom quality. You can filter by rating, cost, handicap accessibility, and even a baby changing table.

PackPoint

Another female traveller’s dream coming true. PackPoint is a packing list generator that uses your information to customise a packing checklist for your travel. You tell the app your gender, your destination, the time your travelling, and any activities planned, and the app will tell you suggestions for essentials, clothing, and gear you should bring with you.

Safety Map Worldwide

Safety Map Worldwide features maps around the world that will recommend you the safest routes. It advises the best districts to travel or stay in and let you know which areas to avoid. Sometimes you might not know the areas very well, and it be difficult knowing which areas to avoid, this app gives you a better idea of where to go and where not to!

Google Maps

Not just for female travel, but for anyone travelling really. Google maps is a life saver, if you don’t have it, download it now! You can use it without wi-fi (even though you can search for a specific route) and you can see where you are and where you’re going!
