Sometimes you just need a little list to make things easier for you. If you’re on your way to Paris, have a tip scheduled for the fall, or simply want some inspirations as to why you should book a ticket and go, here are 20 things you really shouldn’t miss during your Paris visit!
GO TO THE TOP OF THE EIFFEL TOWER
I don’t really think anyone would go to Paris and not visit the Eiffel Tower, so of course it’s number one on this bucket list. I’ve only gone up the Eiffel Tower once, many years ago so I don’t actually remember it (we might not even have gone all the way up?), but still it should be done! Even if you don’t want to make your way through tourist up to the top, bring a picknick and simply enjoy the view from the ground!
NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL
Get an amazing view of Paris from the towers of Notre Dame Cathedral, here you can also see the famous gargoyles up close, but make sure to go on time as the lines can be quite long!
CATCH A CABARET
You kinda have to catch a cabaret when in Paris, most people tend to flock to Moulin Rouge, and for good reason. However, if you’re more into an underground vibe check out the Crazy Horse.
STROLL THROUGH JARDIN DES TUILERIES
If you’re strolling towards the Louvre, make sure to stop by Jardin des Tuileries – it’s worth it!
ATTACH A PADLOCK TO PONT DES ARTS
A bit cheesy, but still cute. The tradition to cement your love to someone by engraving a padlock and locking it on a free space on the bridge has gotten to be more and more popular, and don’t forget to throw the key into the Seine!
HEAD UP TO SACRE COEUR
Walk up all those steps to Sacre Coeur and get the most amazing view of Paris. The church itself is absolutely beautiful and definitely worth a visit, Montmartre is such a cute area and it really shouldn’t be missed.
GO ON A TOUR OF THE CATACOMBS
Head to the Paris underground and enter the catacombs for a different side of Paris!
SEE THE MONA LISA AT THE LOUVRE
Seeing the Mona Lisa is one of those bucket list things I’m happy I’ve done, but honestly, it wasn’t that impressive. The Mona Lisa might be super tiny, but the Louvre is huge and you can easily spend several hours walking around admiring the artworks.
CLIMB THE STAIRS OF THE ARC DE TRIOMF
One of the best views of Paris no doubt.
WALK THE LENGHT OF THE CHAMPS-ELYSEES
Simply to say you’ve been there, done that.
TAKE A DAY TRIP TO DISNEY LAND
If you can – go! Disney land (or the happiest place on earth) is not too far from Paris and if you can combine a city trip and a Disney land trip, wouldn’t that just be the best?
WATCH THE SUNRISE OVER THE SKYLINE
Spend a night out with some champagne or some cocktails, and when the club closes and night becomes day again, hop on the metro to Montmartre and watch the sun rise over the city.
Stroll around, have some ice cream, have your picture done, simply enjoy this cute little area!
PICNIC ALONG THE SEINE
Have a baguette, drink some wine, and enjoy that you’re in Paris! Head to the bridge under Pont Neuf for the most idyllic spot.
I’m actually not a huge fan of macarons, I actually don’t like them at all. However, the only once I’ve eaten we’re in Paris, and I feel like you really should try one when you’re there!
GO TO A FLEA MARKET
Paris might be known for being a very expensive city to go shopping in, however, there are some great flea markets around that might be nicer to your wallet and give you some great finds!
EAT A CROSSIANT
I mean, it’s never not a good reason to eat a croissant.
DRINK HOT CHOCOLATE AT ANGELINA
This place keeps popping up on Instagram, Pinterest, Travel Blogs etc, and it’s simply a must try. It’ll be my first stop next time in Paris, their hot chocolate seems amazing with its thick consistency and whipped cream!
GO TO THE OPERA
Watch an opera or a ballet performance at the Palais Garnier and simply let yourself be stunned by both the performance and the breathtaking décore. As a tourist entrance can be obtained by day, if you don’t get the chance to go by night.
MAKE A DAY TRIP TO VERSAILLES PALACE
If you’re planning to make a day trip outside of Paris, this should be the one. It’s a must see and a perfect day trip during the warmer months!
