I love Mexican food and am always on the search for cool new restaurants to try. So when I came across Cielo Blanco in Exmouth Market I just new I had to try it! Their whole philosophy is social eating, ehm, yes please! So I called up a just as much of a food-loving friend, and we headed out to Exmouth Market to try their Cielo Blanco and their sharing board.
We started our dining experience downstairs with a drink. The bar downstairs was really cosy and the bartenders sure knew what they were doing. They were really nice and explained all about the drinks and gave their recommendations, we ended up trying a pineapple drink and I couldn’t have been happier about that decision.
After we said goodbye to the bartenders we headed upstairs for the food, both of us starving by this point and really excited for some delicious Mexican cuisine. I love all the classics, the tacos, the quesadillas, the botanas, and of course, you can’t go without the guacamole. But the real draw on their menu is the sharing boards. Perfect to share with friends, and the size of the board is perfect for two people who can eat. If you are more than two people, I would suggest ordering some sides to go with it.
We decided to go with the Outdoor-reared belly pork with cumin crackling Marinated baby-back ribs smokey chorizo meatballs Sweet potato Board which in addition to tacos, quesadillas and tortilla chips with guacamole and had no problem finishing the whole thing! To make things even better they serve refreshing fruit waters and juices, of course, we ordered in two of those as well.
After finishing the whole meal, we both ended up in a serious state of food coma, but if you can handle your food, two people are perfect for the board. If you’re not as starving as we were, or not willing to eat as much (not sure who those people are though) sharing three might work.
The interiors of the restaurant were really cool with colors everywhere and a lot of Frida Kahlo inspiration. The restaurant was filled with happy people enjoying some delicious Mexican cuisine and drinking tequila and mezcala, we actually ended up only taking one shot, but will be back soon for some more drinks!
Overall I really had a great experience at Cielo Blanco, the bartenders were really great and knew their stuff really well, the waitresses were great and helpful and I really appreciated how well they knew all the food and drinks. They explained the menu as soon as we sat down, and once done with the food, they explained all the drinks and even though we didn’t end up ordering any tequila, we did opt for some delicious churros with hot chocolate! No doubt I will be back for more food and drinks very soon!
Thank you so much to Cielo Blanco for inviting me for such a delicious dinner! All opinions and photos are my own.
