Berlin Bucket List

Berlin is edgy, ever-changing, filled with undergrounds bars, interesting museums, and delicious food. Berlin is a hub for young people and it’s truly one of the coolest cities in Europe. It has so much to offer, regardless if you’re there for a weekend, a month or decide to never leave, you won’t get bored easily! Here is my ultimate bucket list for things to see, do and of course, eat.

Visit the Brandenburg Gate

When you’re on the tourist track, you kinda have to!

Shop at the Mauer Park Flee Market

Shopping is pretty much always on my list of things to do when travelling, and markets is the ultimate place to do it! Be sure to come early, this place is full of people from noon onwards!

Eat a bratwurst

Just because you have to.

Walk along the Berlin Wall

You can’t really go to Berlin without seeing the Berlin Wall. Even though most of it was demolished long ago, parts of it have been restored, and worth a visit.

See the East Side Gallery

The East Side Gallery is a section of the Berlin Wall, it’s 1,3 kilometres filled with graffiti to  commemorate freedom in Berlin. It’s really impressive and was my first stop in Berlin, and it’s free!

Go shopping at KaDeWe

Want to go shopping? I’ve got you covered. KaDeWe is one of the largest department stores in Europe, and also has on over-the-top gourmet food hall.

Eat a Burger at “The Bird” in Prenzlauer Berg

You can’t complain about the food in Berlin, and if you’re after a burger and fries head out to the bird. It’s located in a cute area perfect to stroll around in, making it a perfect stop!

Take pictures in a photoautomaten

There’s not much a love more than a photobooth, all over Berlin there are old photo booth machines still very much in action so you can imagen how happy I was!

Visit Museum Island

If you like museums you’re going to love this. Located in Mitte you can easily spend a day visiting any and all kinds of museums here!

See the Berlin Cathedral up close

Of course! A bit touristy but still a must, this 19th-century Cathedral is on most people’s bucket list in Berlin, and for good reason!

Go bar hopping

There’s no shortage of interesting and unique bars in Berlin, and if you don’t know where to find them, hop on a bar hopping tour! You’ll find them all over, check with your hostel or hotel! You’ll meet fun people, find unique places to have a drink or two, and might discover places you wouldn’t have found otherwise. A great way to spend a night if you’re new to Berlin!

Walk around on Peacock Island

If you feel like seeing free-roaming peacocks this it the place to be.

Visit the Sachsenhausen-Oranienburg concentration camp

The concentration camp is located a bit outside of Berlin, but worth the trip. It was used primarily for political prisoners, and today the remaining buildings and grounds are open to the public as a museum.

See Checkpoint Charlie

Let’s add some more touristy attractions on this list. Checkpoint Charlie isn’t the most amazing thing to see, but still kind of a must in Berlin.

Go clubbing at Berghain

If you can manage to get in it’s quite the experience, a night club like no other. There are plenty of different theories on how to get in ect, and honestly, I have no idea. But if you have a night free it’s worth a try! And if you don’t get in there’s a photobooth just outside where you can spend the night taking pictures instead.

Visit the German Christmas Markets

If you find yourself in Berlin during November/December make sure to check out the German Christmas Markets!

Street Food Thursday

If you’re like me and love trying out some street food this is heaven! Head over to street food Thursday between 5-10pm at Markthalle Neun.

Explore Kreuzberg

Kreuzberg is one of the most hip and cool neighbourhoods, it’s great to explore or if you’re here for a weekend try finding a hostel or hotel in this area!
