San Cristobal de Las Casas is located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, it was my first stop back in Mexico after Guatemala, and this colorful city had been on my Mexico bucket list for quite some time! It’s such a cute place, with a lot of things to do and delicious food! There were lively markets, colorful buildings, friendly people and amazing fruit everywhere and definitely a place I would visit again!
Things to do
My first time Zip Lining was here, I went with a company called Xaman who were really great! I had such a friendly and funny guide, and it was only me and two friends on the tour so it was very personal and such an amazing experience. There are plenty of places to zip line in Central America, and if you find yourself there, try it!
Templo de San Cristobal
Templo de San Cristobal is a unique and beautiful church worth a visit, and climbing the steps to the tops gives you an amazing view over the city.
Explore the markets
San Cristobal de Las Casas has some great markets to get lost in. Find some colorful handicrafts, leather bags, jewelry or clothes, I found my favorite scarf for a very good price at one of the markets!
Na Bolom operates as a hotel, museum, and research center, it use to be the home of archaeologist Frans Blom and his wife, Gertrude Duby Blom.
The main plaza is located near the center of the city and is the main meeting point for travelers, tourists, and locals. San Cristobal’s Cathedral is located on the north side of the plaza, and on the plaza, you can also find the local tourist information office.
